Our Volunteers

We’re a highly collaborative and supportive team, coming together on every project to ensure our community gets the very best result.

Food Pantry

The need grows greater every month, so we need to purchase more supplies from the Hilo Food Basket and receive more donations from the public. We are a 501c3 non profit association. Your donation is tax deductible and you will be helping your neighbors in need. Please see Judi Houle, or email her if you have any questions about making a donation or to volunteer: nwhppjudi@gmail.com.

Swap Meet

Our Swap Meet is the source of our financial support. HPP NW Swap Meet volunteers often donate supplies in addition to their time and talents. With the help of our vendors we sponsor HPP Neighborhood Watch projects that keep our neighborhood safe. These donations also allow us to sponsor and supply the HPP FOOD PANTRY that helps our Puna neighbors in need.

“Our neighborhood has an amazing team of hard working professionals to help us keep our community safe. It has always been a pleasure to work with them.”

Judith Houle, President

Blockwatchers

You can become a block watcher for your area in two ways. You are invited to our meeting on the first Saturday of the month, between 9am – 10am at the HPP Activity Center on Makuu, between 16th& 17th Ave, or speak to one of our HPP NW members. Learn how easy you can make a difference. And, it doesn’t take a big commitment.

C.E.R.T Program

CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) members are trained to respond to disasters when professional first responders are overwhelmed or delayed in responding. CERT training is beneficial even if it is just something you want to learn for yourself and immediate family, but when you join the HPP CERT team, you play a valuable role in helping your community get through the aftermath of a disaster and back on its feet.

ERT - Emergency Radio Team

Our Emergency Radio Team (ERT) has been working on this communication system for several years now. Our group has more advnced communications skills than some groups who actually draw a salary from the state and county. We know that we may be on our own for up to two weeks during a major disaster (as per CCD).

Emergency Action Team

Hawaiian Paradise Park has an Emergency Response Plan the can be found on the HPPOA.net website. If a Disaster hits HPP, our Activity Center will be turned into a Command Center to assist our residents to provide services and supplies..
